Mrs. Elaine is a sweetheart ! An unfortunate mistake was made during the estimate process of $ 2438.48. This amount was for a rack and pinion replacement. To be sure the rack and pinion needed to be replaced, I asked to have it diagnosed before the new rack and pinion was ordered. Later, I was informed the initial estimate was incorrect . The new estimate is $ 4200.00.. The initial rack and pinion cost was not $ 1607.00. The correct cost of the rack and pinion is $3500.00. If I had known the cost of the rack and pinion was $3500.00, I would not have asked to have the rack and pinion checked with the new replacement cost being $4200.00 and not $2438.48.. I knew, I did not have $4200.00 to invest in that repair cost .. I ended up paying for the diagnosis in the amount of $132.59. The million dollar question is, should I have been contacted earlier about the cost increase before the before the diagnosis of the rack and pinion was performed ?? '' I did suggest, the rack and pinion could be purchased from LexusOEParts.com for $2400.00 and that I would pay for it upfront.." This offer was denied .. At the end of the day, the question is would I return to Golden Rule Automotive and would I recommend them ? Mrs. Elaine is a Sweetheart and mistakes do happen !!
